More than 100 LGBTQ+ artists, culture makers, arts professionals, and community members gathered for the inaugural LA LGBTQ+ Arts & Culture Coalition Summer Social—an evening under the stars dedicated to connection, fellowship, and building queer cultural power in Los Angeles.
Intergenerational, multidisciplinary, and open to all, the Summer Social created space for new cultural connections and professional relationships to take root. The gathering reflected the Coalition’s commitment to strengthening the networks that sustain LGBTQ+ artists and cultural workers across the region.
The event was hosted in part by Temple Grounds in their welcoming open-air venue, with delicious food prepared by Perhaps Japanese. New Filmmakers LA presents InFocus: LGBTQ+ Cinema — a day-long monthly film festival celebrating queer stories, voices, and visions on screen. Presented at South Park Center with support from the Golden Globe Foundation, this edition spotlights LGBTQ+ filmmakers and films across a full day of screenings, conversations, and community. Open to the public.

A community film screening of AIDS Diva: The Legend of Connie Norman — an award-winning documentary by Dante Alencastre. Official selection at Outfest Los Angeles, BFI Flare London LGBTQ+ Film Festival, and Sydney Australia Audience Award for Documentary Feature. Followed by a Q&A with director Dante Alencastre and ChiChi Navarro. Presented by California LGBT Arts Alliance.

Join other members for a private tour of Free and Queer: Black Californian Roots of Gay Liberation — a pioneering exhibition presenting California as a site of sustained, Black-led struggles for LGBTQ equality, civil rights, and recognition. Presented by the California African American Museum the exhibition recovers histories largely excluded from existing narratives and exposes powerful ways that print culture, artistic practice, and performance styles shaped, advanced, and interpreted Black queer social movements alongside political and legal activism. Reception to follow.

Your feedback is vital for building this advocacy and securing support from civic leaders, funders, and the public. Our report is scheduled to be released late Summer 2026.
